Sports Hall of Fame
ELECTION RULES & POLICIESAs of 2009 1) Eligible are men and women, living and deceased,who have been outstanding performers and/or have made significant contributions in any various ways to the Saugerties sports scene. These contributions must have been performed primarily in or about Saugerties, on the college level, national level, professional level, or while serving in the military.
2) A. If living, the nominee must attain the minimum age of 50 by December 31st of the prior year in which the election was held.
B. If deceased, the nominee must have been deceased for a period of 2 years, if not otherwise eligible by the age requirement at the time of death.
3) Present policy is to limit induction to five individuals each year, regardless of the respective totals of living and deceased.
4) The members will meet on the first Saturday after November 15th to review all questionnaires eligible.
At that time they will select the top 10 candidates.
5) A copy of the top 10 questionnaires will be sent to all eligible Hall of Fame Members along with a voting ballot sheet no later than November 29th prior to the election year.
6) All ballots must be returned before December 31st. Any ballot received after the December 31st deadline will not be counted. Ballots will be opened at the annual election meeting, which will take place by January 15th of the election year.
7) The five nominees who receive the most votes will become the new inductees. In case of a tie vote, the members at the annual election meeting will vote to break the tie.
8) Personal contact with the new inductees will be made by the Hall of Fame Club President before January 22nd of the induction year.
9) Should a new inductee decline induction, they would be eliminated and no further voting will take place for a replacement.
10) These rules are by order of the Hall of Fame Club President.
